HAUNT 1999

As far as I can remember, I have always loved Halloween the most out of all holidays. 1998 started out innocently enough with a few pumpkins, spooky sound effects, dry ice....but this year we went to a whole other level with anamatronics, compressed air, and more elaborate props. I..err..I mean WE had a great time and many adults came up to us and thanked us for doing this for the neigborhood. The ultimate compliment was from a group of teenagers that said "Man...why can't OUR parents be like this??!!"

Our house AFTER the transformation
A close up of one of my columns (the gargoyle's eyes are green LEDs)We had a large speaker in each column for sound effects.
A better look at our front door
Some of my tombstones (the letters were dremeled out and painted w/florescent paint for the 5 black lights in the graveyard)If you look close enough you can see the compressor hose in the grass that we used.
Jason on the roof over the front door (he had big orange LEDs for eyes and his head moved back and forth continuously with a motor))
A close up of an antiqued Bucky keeping a tombstone company (we had a red spotlight on this)
Our E.A. Poe tombstone, mostly the adults got this (the crow had red LEDs)
A close up of one of my posts
This is what the TOTs saw when I opened the front door
And finally...all a girl could ask for...a garage full of Halloween props and a Corona!!

Along with everything else we had a fog machine in the bushes near the walkway to the door and we used a compressor hose to scare the kids on the walkway as well. When the kids would come up the walkway, they would see the fog coming out and would stop directly in front of our "trap" because they would be scared to come all the way to the door. When they stopped, we would fire the compressor hose which made them do everything from jump, scream and yelp. Even one trick-or-treater jumped so high he lost his shoes!! The combination of the hissing noise with the air hitting their ankles made this a classic.... :-)
